Civics Test Prep
Practice the civics test the way it’s given: out loud, one question at a time, until you pass or you don’t.
How the test works
- Your filing date picks your test. Filed your N-400 on or after October 20, 2025? You get the 2025 test: 128 questions to study, up to 20 asked, 12 right to pass.
- Filed before October 20, 2025? You get the 2008 test: 100 questions, up to 10 asked, 6 right to pass.
- The officer stops early. Once you’ve passed, or can’t pass anymore, it’s over. This quiz works the same way.
- About these questions: they’re paraphrased from the 2008 list, not the official wording. Use them to warm up. For the real thing, study the official USCIS list for your test, including the questions about who holds office right now.
Start your practice round
Say your answer out loud, then reveal it. Be honest with yourself. The officer will be.
Practice only. Not the official test or official wording.
Keep going with the official USCIS list for your test, including the questions about current officeholders.
